Blue Crow Botanicals is a small herb company located in the fertile Connecticut river valley of Western Massachusetts. We cultivate and wildcraft medicinal herbs and process them into extracts and oils to extract their healing powers. We offer natural health consultations which employ the use of medicinal plants in combination with self healing practices and changes in lifestyle and diet. We are an educational resource for people wanting to learn the art of using herbs clinically and also for those looking to further their existing herbal education and deepen their practice.
Blue Crow is intentionally a small, local business in order to preserve the personal relationship we have with the plants and the medicine we make as well as our clients and community.
It is with profound gratitude to the plants themselves and the desire to work closely with them that Blue Crow Botanicals began and is able to thrive.
What we do
Our extracts are made from locally-grown and wild crafted plants as often as possible. The plants are picked at peak potency and processed within 24 hours to preserve active chemical constituents as well as their inherent vitality. Plants we are not able to wild craft locally or grow in our medicinal gardens, are carefully sourced from the most reputable organic retailers. We use organic alcohol exclusively, small batch sizes and optimal concentrations to insure vitality, viability and potency. The wild crafted plants are harvested with consideration for sustaining native plant and animal populations.
Blue Crow Botanicals currently offers two options for Herbal Study. The Basic Herbal Study Course is an introduction to Herbal Medicine, to plants in the garden and the field and to making plant medicine. It begins with the spring season and goes until mid Autumn. Our Second Year Course follows the Basic Herbal Study Course or commensurate study and includes the tools necessary for beginning to work clinically with clients. This is done through deeper investigation into plants, physiology and pathology, and diagnostic skills as well as in real world observation and practice with clients. We also work on the art of making formulas, client interaction skills and more in depth materia medica.
Both courses have required research and homework outside of class
Bonnie Bloom, founder of Blue Crow and primary herbalist, offers private consultations to support good health which include herbal medicine, as well as suggestions for diet and supplements and a variety of qi gong, yoga or meditation practices where appropriate.
